Opening the door for more fans with Shopify-native payment options

Swag Golf is known for creating bold, limited-edition golf gear that fans can’t get enough of. But with growing demand and increasingly premium releases, the team wanted to experiment with a new way to launch—one that would keep things exclusive while making it easier for more fans to participate.
That’s where EQL’s Shopify app came in.
The Challenge
Swag Golf has built a loyal fan base, often releasing in-demand, high-ticket items that sell out fast. But with price tags on some items exceeding $1,000, the brand was looking for a way to remove cost as a barrier for new fans, while still maintaining exclusivity and control over launches.
The Fix
Swag partnered with EQL to run a multi-phase drop of its $1,600 Collectors Club 2025 release using EQL’s new Shopify app. The first phase—a limited early access launch—was run directly on Swag’s own Shopify site using the app.Â
The experience felt really special being on our ecomm site. We even saw fans calling it out, and saying the whole launch felt very premium.

For the first time, fans could enter for a chance to purchase and choose to pay in installments, powered by Shopify’s native payment options.
This ability to split payments opened the door for first-time customers, who may have previously been unable to participate due to the upfront cost. Andrew Jones, Director of ecommerce for Swag Golf, shared that “pretty much everyone who reached out about paying in installments was a new customer.” The feature drove higher participation and increased sell-through, particularly during the early access phase.
In addition to performance, the team at Swag appreciated how easy the EQL app was to work with—especially compared to other Shopify apps the team had tried in the past. From installation to launch, the process was smooth, fast, and didn’t disrupt Swag’s existing product page layout.
“I thought it was very intuitive, very easy to use. We’ve tried other apps in the past, and bots were able to find the products before we even launched. They got around everything we tried. But this didn’t happen with EQL’s Shopify app.”
Unlike traditional launches, EQL’s Shopify app kept the product hidden before launch, preventing bots or early leaks. Combined with native Shopify payments, flexible access phases, and seamless design integration, the experience felt both elevated and secure.

The Outcome
The launch resulted in:
1. 100% sell-through during the general public phase of the launch.
2. New customer acquisition via installment payments available on Shopify (10–15% of high-ticket customers opted for installment plans).
3. Seamless, intuitive setup with no theme disruption.
It was our first time doing a launch on Shopify, and the ability to offer installment payments made a big difference. It helped us bring in new customers and gave returning fans more flexibility. We’ll be using it to run more launches.
